Vision Statement

We were born to conquer the stars

This began as a portfolio — a place to prove, in difficult days, solo dev, latest stacks.

As building continues and somewhere along the way it started looking less like a demonstration and more like a real place.

So here is the tiny wish I keep for it — that it will flourish. That it becomes a home for science, knowledge, art, sport, and every positive thing that can blossom from here.

The Story

A future someone imagined first

My love for science was lit by numerous scientists and educators — namely Neil deGrasse Tyson, Vsauce, Li Yongle. Teachers with real depth, who share one thing in common: they are good storytellers.

So let me share a story. The background lore of a sci-fi game, describing humanity after it was finally led by science.

Human lifespans, for starters, were tripled. Those who lived two hundred years in our day would be among the longest-lived of our species — but in their time, ninety was considered young. Three-hundred-year-old humans finally existed.

All fundamental hatreds and intolerances quickly vanished, and in a similar sense the peoples of many nations merged. Nations meant so much less when the people themselves were united in a common understanding, born from one simple idea:

That we were not bound for our petty grievances and poorly thought-out wars, but that we were born to conquer the stars.

Our culture became founded in reasoning, intellectualism and science. Centres were founded in the name of progress and reason — the Ishtar Academy on Venus, the city of Freehold in the red sands of Mars. The Baikonur Cosmodrome became a great engine of exploration, and the metropolis of Titan rose above the waves.

Our technology advanced tenfold. And then there was the fourth state of matter — Engram — in which data was freed from the physical restraints of matter, and every idea could be created and kept with the simplest of actions.

Now

And so the world unfolds

A man said he would land a rocket back on the pad it launched from. Then it landed. I watched it come home.

GPT-3 could barely hold a function together. A few years later I am building this platform beside one, arguing about schemas and transform origins at two in the morning.

The future does not arrive. It gets built, by people who cherish science and humanity.

I want the bright one. Disease answered by nano-bots. Carbon extraction by next-gen bio-technology ecosytems. Step by step heading towards Type I civilization. Where science brings Health, then prosperity, thus stability.

The Other Road

And if it goes dark

The Destiny's lore is not a utopia. Neither is ours. There is a colder path, a cyberpunk era — neon, rain, everything owned by someone. That may be the one we get.

By then I will be the Guardian with a Ghost. I will be Alita. I will be David Martinez. Carbon-fibre limbs, falcon wings folded under a coat, a dark-energy cell running Luna — my personal AGI — and whatever Adam Smasher turns out to be, he will find me standing in the light.

If you share the dream — traveller, guardian, companion — then come and stand here a while

Ladies and gentlemen
